Waiting Inside the Departure Hall of an Airport

Written by: Sandeep Sinha - Scientific Poet of the 21st Century

Usually, international airlines ask passengers to check in at least 3 hours before departure while domestic airlines ask passengers to to check in one-and-a-half hours before departure. The boarding time varies between 30 minutes to 45 minutes. Depending on how you use your time, it can be either an enjoyable moment or a frustrating experience to wait inside the departure hall of an airport.

Contemporary airports have taken into consideration the waiting time for passengers and have thus provided facilities to keep the passengers busy and entertained. Food courts with popular eating outlets like McDonald's, KFC, Pizza Hut, Haldiram's, Costa Coffee, Dunkin Donuts, etc. can be found in the departure section of airports. You can enjoy your favorite coffee or tea along with burger or sandwich and spend time in a relaxed manner.

There are several Duty-Free Shops where you may be tempted to buy the latest perfume for yourself or for your sweetheart. Chocolates at these Duty-Free Shops are elegantly packed only for airline passenger segment and are thus priced slightly higher than the chocolates available in the supermarket outside an airport. Buying these chocolates for your kids would make them happy surely.

Souvenir shops in the departure hall have some of the best souvenirs; so even if you do not want to buy them this time, you may like to do window shopping and perhaps remember to buy them the next time without having to bother yourself search for a memorable souvenir for your friend or business associate in the crowded market outside the airport.

You can also use internet on your laptop, tablet, or smartphone as you wait inside the departure hall. In the days of accessible information technology, you have to no longer feel bored as you can enjoy surfing the internet, check email, or Skype with your near and dear ones.

Enjoy your time in the departure hall of the airport!
