ISKCON to Help You Raise Your Krishna Consciousness

Written by: Sandeep Sinha - Scientific Poet of the 21st Century

India is a secular country where people of different religions are free to worship their religion as well as other religions. With a majority of people, about 82%, worshipping Hinduism, you can see several Hindu temples throughout the country. Hinduism is the oldest known religion on planet Earth, and it supposed to be as old as 20,000 years old. Krishn was one of the Hindu Gods born around 8000 B.C. To help the people attain God-realization, an organization known as International Society for Krishna Consciousness, ISKCON, was founded by Late Swami Prabhupada.

Krishn is how the word is spelt in Hindi language, while Krishna is its modified English version to facilitate easily pronunciation for people worldwide. Lord Krishn was one of the incarnations of Lord Vishnu, who is considered as the lord for preserving good in the universe. So Lord Krishn took birth to preserve goodness when he destroyed his cruel maternal uncle, Kans, who was the king of Mathura in the northern part of India. There is an interesting tale about the birth of Krishna. The wicked king Kans had imprisoned his sister and brother-in-law and killed all babies born from his sister because there was a prophecy that one of the sons of his sister would eventually kill him. However, the wicked king Kans could not kill Krishn when he was born in the prison as baby Krishn was taken out of the prison cell to safety soon after his birth. As Krishn grew up from infancy to childhood, he attained his supernatural, Godly form to kill the cruel king Kans.

Since Lord Krishn took birth on Earth to preserve goodness, he also helped the honest Pandav kings to eliminate the deceptive Kaurav kings in the famous battle of Mahabharat. The spiritual teachings of Lord Krishn are a part of Mahabharata, which is the the longest epic in the world. These spiritual teachings of Lord Krishn are compiled as Bhagawad Geetha.

Since Swami Prabhupada was a ardent devotee of Lord Krishn, he founded the ISKCON to help people raise their consciousness in Lord Krishn. ISKCON has temples worldwide, and the devotees are able to raise their Krishn consciousness through regular spiritual practice and by their reading of Bhagawad Geetha.

The headquarters of ISKCON are located in the town of Vrindavan, which is about 11 km from Mathura. Feel free to visit the ISKCON temples located globally and to raise your Krishn consciousness.

Hare Krishn, Hare Krishn, Krishn Krishn Hare Hare,
Hare Ram, Hare Ram, Ram Ram Hare Hare.
